COVERED-COURT TOURNEYS
Sir,— The dispatch of the secretary and the manager of the Auckland Winter Show to Sydney - to view Australian showmanship may be a good move, but probably if Auckland had not the disability of long-sight she might remedy some of her faults by studying the success of shows in New Zealand. There is no doubt that Auckland’s winter show is not a marvellous draw to the public, and I suggest that one of the ways of making it more popular would be to hold a covered-court tennis tournament. This might be staged in one of the sheds on the wharf, where the show is held, and a stadium coqld easily be arranged. Covered court tennis has never been tried here, although in other countries it draws big crowds.
