PRINCE EDWARD
MERRY AUSTRALIANS Singers, dancers and players, the Royal Australian Sunbeams gave a remarkably pleasant “opening night” at the Prince Edward Theatre, Karangahape Road, last evening. They have all the joy and enthusiasm of childhood and youth, and their entertainment is novel, sprightly and entirely enjoyable. The Sunbeams are not altogether unkown in Auckland. On this occasion they have been organised by Miss Chrissie Royal, and the company contains some new faces. The first offering of the Sunbeams, which is supported by Jackie Clarke’s Revue Company, is “A Merry Christmas Party,” a bright mixture of songs, stunts and ballets. Jackie Clarke took one of the big parts, singing his songs with the spirit of an original comedian. The dressing was delightful and the dancing excellent. The Doll and Radiant Ballets have musical comedy merit. Billed as the “wonderful boy soprano.” Henry Ussher charmed the large audience with his clear, bell-like voice. The Six Royal Wonders did their stunts with amazing dexterity *and quickness.
“The Sunbeams” will change their programme on Thursday next. Performances will be given twice daily during the Auckland season.
