PRESENTATION TO UNITED SUBURBS CRICKET REP.

Mr. A. Williams, of the United Suburbs cricket team, was the guest of honour at a pleasant little function held in the Newmarket Railway Workshops at noon on Thursday. A number of his shopmates decided to mark their appreciation of his selection as one of the Auckland Plunket Shield reps, by presenting him with a specially selected bat. Mr. J. Elliott, president of the Auckland Suburban Association, made the presentation on behalf of the voluntary subscribers, and incidentally extended to “Arthur” the sincere good wishes of not only the donors but of the New Zealand suburbanites for his success in the forthcoming inter provincial matches. The recipient feelingly replied and was sent on his responsible mission with three rousing cheers.
