HIPPODROME AND EMPRESS

“THE CIRCUS ACE” Something new in the way of screen entertainment was witnessed at the Hippodrome and Empress yesterday with the showing of the Fox Films latest release. “The Circus Ace,” starring Tom Mix. This is one of the most unusual and delightful western thrillers that has been shown this season, and the irrepressible Tom and his famous horsp Tony seem to he right in their element of- fun, . stunts of daring and danger and a story that was made for them. There is actior, thrills and laughter during every moment of the screening of this fine drama. It gives Tom a dozen opportunities for hair-raising stunts during the telling of the story. In addition, the life of a company of circus performers touring the west, with their tents, wagons and menageries of wild animals, is pictured v ith griping realism. Tony is the star animal performer though a boxing kangoroo, furnishes plenty of compel ition in the way of laughs. Every one of the cast seems to take a delight in interpreting his part and help make this picture an entertainment for every member of the family. For it is a family picture as much if not more than any c ircus is. Included among the players in the more important roles arc*, Jack Hasten, Duke Lee, the rodeo stao-, James Bradbury. Stanley Blystone, Dudley Smith and Buster Gardner.
