FIREBLIGHT AT NGATEA

ORCHARDS AFFECTED Fireblight has appeared near Ngatea, Hauraki Plains. The owner of some apple trees suspected the presence of the blight some weeks ago and sent an affected limb to the district orchard instructor, who at first doubted whether the blackness was due to the blight, but later confirmed the fruitgrower’s suspicions and by telephone instructed him to cut off all affected branches.

The instructor lias not yet visited the district, and it is possible the owners of other trees similarly attacked do not know of the presence of fireblight in their orchards.
