TINTINABULATION

Sir.— I would be much obliged if you would allow me space in your paper to write about the bells of St. Matthew's, Wellesley Street. Having been a resident in this city for over 12 months, I would like to state that they are very inferior to those I have heard in other cities of the world. I have resided in France, Italy, Spain and England, also Australia, but never have I struck a more terrible din than this. Those hymns; the same old hymns make one dread Sunday evening. In the little State of Tasmania the bells of Hobart's Holy Trinity are a pleasure to hear. Possibly it may be that nothing better can be obtained in Auckland at present, and we who live in the vicinity of St. Matthews have to bear it with a smile. TRAVELLER.
