CAMPING IN AUCKLAND
MT. HOBSON NOT AVAILABLE PRIVATE CAMPING SITE Tht possibility of a motorists’ camping ground being constructed on Mount Hobson has been entirely removed by the discovery by the Auckland City Council that, as the land is a public domain no charges can be levied for the rent of any portion of it. Under these circumstances Mount Hobson is entirely unsuitable for use in this direction, and the authorities concerned are looking round for a new site. Meantime, Auckland is the only town of any size in New Zealand that has not made arrangements for the convenience of camping motorists. Visitors to Auckland have the choice of either finding a camping site for themselves or settling at Tui Glen, a private camping ground near HenderFor the convenience of those who wish to camp at Tui Glen, the following particulars will be valuable. Hollow the New North Road from the terminus of the Mount Albert tram to where it joins the concrete at Avondale, or follow the Great North Road along tlio Grey Lynn tram-line, turning off to Point Chevalier, and follow the concrete through to Avondale. A concrete road runs all the way to Henderson, 10 miles from Auckland, but turn off to the right just before the bridge half a mile from Henderson. At Tui Glen there is excellent camping accommodation, fireplaces under cover, firewood cut, electric light and water laid on, tennis, bathing and boating, games, children's games, and so on. The charges are very light.
