WANGANUI’S GOOD EFFORT BIG DOUBLE-FIGURE TALLY Press Association. NEW PLYMOUTH, Monday. With six wickets down for 322 runs at the drawing of stumps to-day, the Wanganui batsmen made a good showing in the continuation of the Hawke Cup match against Taranaki. The home team had made 224 in the first innings on Saturday, and Wanganui had nine on the board without loss. The batting was rather slow on resumption to-day. Bunny was top scorer with BS, Kerr making 71 and Bernau 40. Wilson .... 2 HOLLAND, not out 11 Extras 28 Total for six wickets 322 At the luncheon adjournment Wanganui had made 408 for nine wickets in reply to Taranaki’s 224. The scorers this morning were: H. Williams 37. Holland, in, 56, Thakobau 10, W. d. Williams 10, Harris, in, 8; extras, 31.
