CLAY BIRD SHOOTING
TAUMARUNUI MATCH At tli© invitation of Mr. H. V. McElroy, of Taringamotu, the members of the Taumarunui Rod and Gun Club held a very successful shoot on his property. The weather was not good, but the competing was of a high order. Mr. D. McLennan, in putting up the possible, secured Mr. McElroy’s trophy. Results: Seven-bird Sweepstake.—R. F. Harris, 14yds, 1 : J. Brown, 10yds, 2. Sweepstake and Mr. IT. V. McElroy’s Trophy.—D. McLennan, 10yds, with 10 birds (the possible), 1; D. Harris, 15yds. nine birds, 2; J. Brown, 11yds, nine birds —the shot-off going to Harris. Sweepstake and Mr. D. McElroy’s Trophy.—H. V. McElroy, 13yds, nine birds, 1; R. Harris and F. E. Cox tied with eight each, and Harris secured the shoot-off for second place. During the afternoon Mrs. McElroy supplied afternoon tea, a courtesy which was greatly appreciated by the shootists.
