ARAPUNI POWER HOUSE

GOVERNMENT TAKING OVER CONSTRUCTION MINISTER’S ASSURANCE The Minister of Public Works, the Hon. K. S. Williams, has given his assurance of the Government’s intention to facilitate the work of adjusting the transfer of the construction work of the Arapuni power house from the contractors. Sir G. Armstrong, Whitworth and Company, Ltd., to the Public Works Department. He says this is not to be allowed to delay the completion of the power house itself. The Minister said on Saturday that a start had already been made in the handing-over process under the direction of the chief electrical engineer, Mr. P. M. Kissell. The erection of the power house Is to be carried out under the direction of Mr. Dinnie, who has represented the department on the undertaking since it was commenced.
