AVONDALE NEWS
COMMUNITY LIGHTING Parishioners of St. Jude s (.Avondale) Church have been considering a proposal to raise a loan for the provision of drainage and rooms for their hall. The question will, it is hoped, be advanced a stage further at a meeting set down for next week. The necessity for the introduction of a community lighting scheme is recognised by Avondale shopkeepers, and something definite on those lines should take form before autumn. At one stage it was thought that Christmas would see the township lit up on thiit basis, but the Avondale Business Men’s Association, which has the proposal in hand, reluctantly had to appreciate the fact that there was not sufficient time before Christmas to finalise arrangements. Mr. Eric Trigg, of Avondale, while pushing a truck into the garage, had his head crushed against the wall and it was found necessary to put in 19 stitches to close the wound. After treatment by Dr. Leepcr, the injured man was sent to the hospital and according to last reports was making satisfactory progress.
