CLAY BIRD MATCHES THAMES, Saturday. The Thames Rod and Gun Club held its weekly shoot this afternoon. The conditions were far from ideal on account of dull weather and a choppy wind, but nevertheless several fine scores were recorded. The results were: No. I.—Six-bird sweepstake: W. R. Smith and G. Thompson each shot the possible and divided. No. 2, seven birds.—W. R. Smith, 1; W. Sparke, 2; L. Sinclair, 3. No. 3, seven birds.—D. Miller, 1; W. R. Smith, 2; A. Brien, 3. No. 4, eight birds.—Dr. Liggins, 1; A. Brien, 2; L. Sinclair, 3. No. 5, seven birds.—Sweepstake: S. Miller, A. Brien, G. Thompson, W. R. Smith and S. Sparke each shot the possible. The shoot-off resulted in Brien, Smith and Thompson dividing on 12th bird. No. 6, quail drive. —W. R. Smith, 1; S. Miller, 2; A. Brien, 3. PUKEKOHE PUKEKOHE, Saturday. The Pukekohe Gun Club held its

annual Christmas clay-bird shooting | matches to-day. The results were as follows: No. 1 Shoot, seven birds.—W. McNeil, K. Cathcart, A. Clinch, R. Clinch and J. Rack, each shot the possible. In the shoot-off, A. Clinch won on the 25th bird, with McNeil runner-up with 21 birds. No. 2.—Curtis and Harvey Club Cup. 15 bird- : A. Finch won with the possible all first barrel. No. 3 Shoot, seven birds.—Cathcart, R. Sim, R. Clinch and J. Rach each shot the possible. In the shoot-off. Sim won on the 14th bird, with Clinch the runnerup. No. 4 Shoot, seven birds.—R. Clinch and J. J. Hart shot the possible. In the shoot-off Hart won on the 19th bird. Reynolds, C. McCormick, J. Wright and J. Adams shot-otf for third place and McCormick won. RIFLE CLUB SHOOT The Thames Defence Rifle Club held its Christmas shoot last Saturday, when various trophies were competed for. Rifleman S. Inglis headed the list.
