TRADE IN KAURI GUM

MARKET REVIEWED Quite a number of shipments of kauri gum are reported to have gone forward on consignment during the past fevv weeks. This class of business has previously been looked upon as unsatisfactory and the present trend can be looked upon as a sign of the times with the limited inquiry from overseas. Business continues slow, with the markets registering little activity. There has been a limited inquiry lor No. 2 ordinary making gums. White swamp is selling slowly at low prices, and there have been some inquiries tor B2 during the past week at reduced prices. A few sales of 7-8 scraped pale gums have been reported over the past week and this grade, generally, is in short supply. Good bled gum sells as it comes to hand if holders are prepared to meet the market and not try to force prices. Uommon dark chips have been selling, but at a reduction of 2s to 3s on prices ruling a few weeks back.
