INTER-SCHOOL CRICKET
MOUNT ALBERT V. WHANGAREI EASY WIN FOR HOME TEAM The annual cricket matches between the senior and junior teams from Mount Albert Grammar School and the Whangarei High School were concluded at Eden Park yesterday afternoon. The Mount Albert senior eleven had an easy victory, winning by an innings and 290 runs. In the. first innings, played on Thursday, Whangarei were dismissed for 17 runs, Mount Albert responding with 260 for six wickets. Playing yesterday Mount Albert carried its total to 385—Aicken 56 and Wall 36. In the second innings Whangarei batted a little better and managed to make 69. Of this score Macpherson made a solid 25. Going in first he played a solid defence and was not dismissed until the end of the innings. THE JUNIOR MATCH In the junior match Whangarei made a much better showing and managed to gain a victory by 52 runs. On the previous day Whangarei scored 102 and Mount Albert 100 for three wickets. Continuing yesterday. Mount Albert added 133 runs to its score, totalling 233 (L. P. Potter 90, Whaley 49)- Bowling for Whangarei: Thompson took seven wickets for 63 runs.
