COLOURFUL “CARMEN”

FAMOUS GRAND OPERA Everyone has heard the famous i: music, but few have had the opportun- j < ity of seeing and hearing Bizet’s ;' masterpiece “Carmen.” j The opera will be presented bv Madame Irene Ainsley and a big company at His Majesty’s Theatre on Mon- ' j day evening. The passion of the music, the colourful setting and the intensity of the I arama have made “Carmen” the most' 1 loved of all the grand operas. The role Carmen” will be taken by Madame Irene Ainsley, who has sung it many times during her distinguished operatic career in England. A fine cast af Auckland singers is announced, and there will be a chorus of 60 voices. Ballets arranged by Miss Daphne Knight will add to the brilliance of the production. The cast will include Misses Nancye Hanna, Mary Hamilton, Marjorie Fair, Irene Frost, Messrs. Jean Dellore, J. de Montalk, Hugh Woods, A. E. Davies, W. Moreton, H., C. Burr, J. Upton.
