HEAVY BOOKINGS EXTRA TRAINS PUT ON The first special train carrying holiday-makers to the South will leave Auckland at 2 o’clock on Saturday afternoon. This is an indication of the heavy railway traffic which is being expected for the Christmas and New Year holidays, and is the first train of its kind to be run during the rush period. Most of the expresses to the South for the few days before Christmas are filling rapidly. Some are already booked up. In all probability extra trains will be put on to carry the passengers. Those arriving from Wellington will be: December 22, four expresses; December 23, four expresses; December 24, five expresses; Christmas Day, four expresses. As the trains fill extra carriages will be put on, and if there are sufficient passengers extra trains will be provided. On December 23 an extra express *ill leave Auckland at 9.15 for WhaBgarei, and at 10.30 p.m. on the same day a special train will * leave for Opua.
