“TWO ARABIAN KNIGHTS” There will be no dull moments at the Majestic Theatre this week, when one of the biggest laughter programmes shown in Auckland for some time will bo presented. First on this attractive bill of fare is the funniest soldier comedy of . all time “Two Arabian Knights.” William Boyd, Mary As tor and Louis Wolheim are the featured players in “Two Arabian Knights,” The film is a comedy of two American doughboys after the war, a private and his top sergeant. They ultimately arrive in Arabia, and there takes place a series of comic adventures surrounding the private’s courtship with an emir’s daughter. William Boyd was a star in “The Volga Boatman.” Louis Wolheim was the original “Captain Flagg” of the stage play, “What Price Glory?” and also Eugene O’Neill’s “The Hairy Ape.” Mary Astor was leading lady for Douglas Fairbanks in “Don Q,” and John Barrymore in “Beau Brummel.” Louis Wolheim directed “The Caveman.” “The New Klondike,” and was co-director of Harold Lloyd’s “The Kid Brother.” Then another big attraction will be “The Hurdy Gurdies,” a humorous stage attraction to be presented by the popular Majestic Quaret, assisted by the well-known Auckland soprano. Miss Alma McGruer. The Majestic Orchestra under the baton of Mr. Whiteford- Waugh will provide a specially-selected programme of music, including “Praeludium,” Jarnefelt; “Audabe,” Lalo; “Canzonetta,” Tschaikowsky; “Andante Melodioso,” Rachmaninoff: “Orientale Dances,” Crist; “Egyptian Impressions,” Crist; “Ballet Suite,” Delibes; and “In a Persian Market,” Ketelby. A special attraction on the programme will b© the appearance of Miss Dale Austen, “Miss New Zealand, 1928,” who will personally appear at this theatre. Miss Austen will deliver a short farewell speech to Aucklanders prior to her departure on Tuesday for the Metro-Gold wyn-Mayer Studios, Culver City, to fulfil her film contract. The supporting pictorial programme is in accord with the rest of the programme. Included in the many scenes in the Majestic News and Eve’s Review are views of the Lacoste-Tilden tennis match at Forest Hills, New York; Tunney’s second victory over Dempsey, with several close-up views of both champions; the unveiling of the American Memorial in Scotland; and very beautiful scenes of the Jungle Falls in the Argentine.
