STRAIGHT TO AFRICA
ALL BLACKS NOT TO BREAK JOURNEY NO GAMES IN SYDNEY Press Association WELLINGTON, To-day. Commenting on a cable from Sydney, Mr. S. S. Dean, chairman of the Management Committee of the New Zealand Rugby Union, states that the present intention is that the AH Blacks should play no matches prior to their arrival in Africa. The risk of injury to the players is not only a serious matter, but arrangements for the tour would prevent matches being played en route. Mr. Dean said that the team would be in Sydney for a few hours only*. The question of a match at Melbourne had never been officially discussed by the committee. Mr. Dean added that the relationship between the New Zealand and New South Wales Rugby Unions had always been most cordial, and he hoped it would continue to be so. At the meeting of the Management Committee to-night it is expected to finally settle the appointment of man* ager of the team.
