PAPATOETOE TOWN BOARD
WATER SUPPLY DELAY At the Papatoetoe Town Board meeting last evening the foreman reported the completion of the tarring of Wyllie Road and part of Kolmar Road, the cleaning up of the district, and the early linking up of Station Road and Great South Road. The Works Committee recommended the immediate installation of a silent policeman at the junction of Station and Great South Roads.
Messrs. Wilcox and McMechan were grapted a supply of water from the park bore, the board to supply pipes to the applicants’ boundary, and they are ta supply any necessary storage required, at an annual cost of 30s. The chairman reported that he had nothing new to report regarding the proposed water supply for the district. He had been in communication daily with the board’s solicitor, but they were unabe to get in touch with Mr. McLaughlin’s representative. General dissatisfaction was expressed by members. The mairman of the Works Committee was authorised to prepare plans for the erection of a bandstand in the park area behind the town hall. An offer had been received to build the rotunda with voluntary labour if the board supplied the material. Accounts totalling £239 8s Sd were passed for paymentThe clerk reported the receipt of £54 from the treasury as the result of fines inflicted for by-law breaches. It was decided to instruct the board’s solicitors to procure a charging order on the property of thfree delinquent ratepayers who have not paid last year’s rates. An application by A. Mephan for permission for the erection of a kerbside petrol pump outside his premises on Station Road was refused.
