SUDDEN DEATHS

THREE IN ONE DAY Rather strange sudden deaths happened at Paeroa on Friday, occurring at about the same time. One of two girls, a young daughter of Mr. James Scarfield, had not received medical attendance and a post-mortem examination had to be held. Another case was that of a 11-year-old daughter of Mr. C. Dally. She-was suddenly taken ill on Wednesday, but not so bad as to cause anxiety. It is believed that the child while playing received some internal injury. An inquest was held. Mr. Roy Hodgson, about 43 years of age, and employed as clerk in the Paeroa Defence Department, died in Thames Hospital on Friday, after an illness of only a few days. He was a well-known figure in Paeroa, and secretary of the Paeroa Rugby Football Club. He leaves a young wife and three children.
