“COLLEGE” “College,” the happiest of all Buster Keaton comedies, will be shown for three more nights at the Grand Theatre. Among the world-famous athletic stars who appear with Buster Keaton in “College,” United Artists’ eomedv of rah! rah! days, is Bud Houser, world’s champion shot-putter and discus-thrower, and winner of both these events at the last Olympic Games Houser does not jeopardise his amateur standing in his first motion picture, for he worked without pay, merely to stimulate international iii-’ terest in track athletics, and to help to draw attention to Los Angeles, his home town, as the location of the Olympic Games in 1932, when he hopes to shatter new records. “College.’’ with a cast of 2,000 people, was filmed amid real campus atmosphere, under the direction of James W. Horne. Joseph M. Schneck produced tha comedy. Production has been started at the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer studio on “The Dog of War,” a starring vehicle for the talents of “Flash,” the new canine discovery. The leading roles in this picture are being played by Ralph Forbes and Marceline Day, with Stuart Baton directing. * * • Joan Crawford had a narrow escape when a motor-car in which she and William Haines were riding was struck by an ice-truck. Several stitches were put in Miss Cra-wford’s scalp. She is now quite recovered and has resumed her role in “West Point.” the new Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer picture of military cadet life with William Haines in the starring role.
