COMING TO AUCKLAND There is likely to be a very large demand for seats when the plans open on Monday morning for the approaching season of “Rose Marie,” the stupendous J. C. Williamson, Ltd., musical production, which is to be staged for the first time in New Zealand at His Majesty’s Theatre on Tuesday, X>ec mber 20. “Rose Marie” will be presented with the same brilliant cast of principals that greatly assisted in making it the most successful play yet staged in Australia by J. C. Williamson. Ltd., including the charming artiste, Harriet Bonnet, the talented -\ixd original comedian Frederic Bentley, the dashing London musical comedy artist. Miss Yvonne Banvard. Miss Stephanie Deste, Mr. James Hughes, Mr. George Bryant, Mr. Lou Vernon. Mr. Bocl Allan. Miss Mabel Lambeth and other notable artists. An outstanding feature of “Rose Mario.” is the famous “Totem Pole Ballet.” a remarkable action song in which the girls who crowd the stage not only dance but perform all sorts of surprising evolutions with wonderful precision. The musical score, by Rudolf Friml and Herbert Stothart, is of artistic interest, worthy of the best form of light opera. Another feature of “Rose Marie” is the elaborate beamy of its settings, involving many changes of costume and scenery. Altogether there are over 100 people concerned in the representation of “Rose Marie,” which is the most costly production yet staged in New Zealand.
