A BROKEN ROMANCE

FARMER FOUND DEAD INQUEST ADJOURNED (Special to THE SUN.) i CH RISTCH U’RCH, Friday. At the inquest to-day on John Dunnett, aged 39, a Temuka farmer, who was found lying outside the front door of Mrs. Manson's residence in Peterborough Street, on Wednesday evening, it was said that his health had not been good since the war, when he was gassed. He had been engaged to be married, but the engagement had recently bcen broken. A witness said Dunnett had appeared miserable and depressed. He had left a note to his brother, which was written on a piece of with poison labels pasted on the back. Ena Robertson, a waitress, who lives with Mrs. Manson, said that until recently she had been engaged to Dunnett. They had had no quarrel, and had been together earlier on Wed s* day evening. Dunnett gave no indication of not being normal. Later she opened the front door in answer ‘o a knock and found deceased lying on the lawn in front of the house. His heart was beating, but he was unconscious. The medical evidence was to ‘he effect that there were no signs of bodily injury or death by poisoning. The inquest was adjourned sine die.
