WHAT MIGRATION MEANS FORMING AN ASSOCIATION (Special to THE SUN.} WELLINGTON, Thursday. “We will never make much progress until we get the public to realise that migration is not merely the bringing of migrants to New Zealand, but the building-up of a nation." Reference to the undeveloped resources of New Zealand and the advisability of forming a Dominion Development Association was made by Mr. A. L. Hunt, when a meeting of signatories to the memorial on migration presented to the Secretary for the Dominions, Mr. L. S. Amery, was held. “We can’t all be farmers,” he continued, “but what we can do is to assist in the development of the unlimited resources of the Dominion and to encourage the investment of British capital in our latent industries. Generally speaking, many of our industries have not been developed to the extent they should have been." A Member: How do you propose to encourage the investment of British capital? “Something tangible would have to be done,’ replied Mr. Hunt. “it-is no use signing a memorial unless we are prepared to take active steps. I suggest that a Dominion Development Association should be formed with a view to doing something in the direction indicated.” After a short discussion it was decided to go more fully into the question at a meeting to be held early in the New Year, ———
