A Council of Railway Transport Unions, representati e of stationmasters, traffic and maintenance employees, guards, : hunters, signalmen and salaried officers’ unions, and the Australian Federated Union of Enginemen, has been formed with the m’n object rf investigating the circumstances and reasons for declaring "black” any commodit car:ied on the railways, and to determine what action shall be taken by the unions comprising the council, should a dispute concerning “black” goods arise. It is estimated that the collective membership of the unions comprising the council is mr e than 60,000, and it will have ample r-ver to enforce its decisions.—A. and N.Z.
