FLASHING LIGHTS

NEW CROSSING SIGNAL APPROVED BY MOTORISTS Motorists are enthusiastic regarding the new flashing light signal at the Massey Road level crossing near the Mangere Station. The wig-wag signal has been done away with and the light signal has taken its place. Two flashing lights have been attached to posts on either side of the railway lines. These, lights begin to flash when a train is 600 yards away approaching the crossing, and continue to flash until the train has passed. The lights can be seen from a considerable distance at night. It is hoped that before long the flashing light signal will be installed at all the level-crossings in the Auckj land district and also in other parts !of New Zealand.
