“THE MUSIC MASTER”

AT STRAND ON FRIDAY One of the most famous of American stage successes is brought to the screen in “The Music Master,” with Lois Moran and Alec B. Francis, and which commences at the Strand Theatre on Friday. Skilfully adapted to the screen, there is every reason to believe that it will be even more popular than it was in its original form. The story is of a lovable musician, who left a brilliant career in Vienna to search 19 years for his wife, who left his home with another man, taking with her his baby daughter. The two big dramatic scenes are when he finds the daughter, and later when he comes face to face with the man who has betrayed him. But the chief charm in the story lies in the delicate characterisation. Alec B. Francis, in the title role, does the best work of his career, portraying the lonely old musician with great sympathy and feeling. Lois' Moran brings to the role of the daughter that subtle spiritual quality which, combined with her youth and beauty, has made her one of the most promising of the young screen stars. Neil Hamilton is cast as her fiancee. Other items included on the programme are the popular Strand Magazine, an Our Gang comedy, “High Society,” an Aesop Fable, a Fox News and a Fox Variety film. Commencing on Friday, Eve Bentley’s Strand Symphony Orchestra will feature as their orchestral interlude, “Rose Marie.”
