MAORI BOYS TO HAVE NEW HEADMASTER
MR. A. WILSON RETIRES SUCCESSOR FROM WAiHI Mr. A. Wilson, of St. Stephen's School for Maori Boys, Parnell, has resigned after more than 20 years' service. His successor will be Mr. W. C. Morris, headmaster of the Waihi District High School. Tj'Oß over 30 years Mr. Wilson lias A been associated with tlie education of Maori boys. His first charge was at Pipiriki, on the Wanganui River. Previously he was engaged in newspaper work both at Hunterville and at Otaki, following his arrival from the South of England in 1891. After three years teaching at Pipiriki Mr. Wilson was appointed to direct the Maori school of King Mahuta at Huntly. His appointment to St. Stephen’s took place 23 years ago, and he has been in charge of the boys of this school ever since. Mr. 'Wilson has also'been actively associated with the Church of England since his arrival in New Zealand, and has officiated in different dioceses as a lay reader. Advancing years decided Mr. Wilson to forward liis resignation to the General Trust Board of the Auckland Diocese. Mr. Morriss, his successor, for the past year and nine months has been headmaster at Waihi. Prior to that he was director of manual and technical instruction, and supervisor of agriculture, under the Hawke's Bay Education Board.
