STRIFE ON OLIVE BRANCH

“I’LL DUMP YOU OVERBOARD” FISHERMEN DISAGREE An ironic circumstance made happenings on the fishing launch Olive Branch last evening anything but peaceful. 'PHE story of strife was told at the j Police Court to-day, when George 'Reid, aged 41, pleaded not guilty to a charge of assaulting Andrew Clark. Clark, in evidence, said that he and two friends were having their evening meal on the Olive Branch when Reid came on board. Reid made insulting remarks to witness and dragged him from the cock-pit and called him “a police pimp.” He then threatened to “dump him overboard.” This he would have done had it not been for the interference of the visitors on the launch. When asked if he wished to question the witness, Reid said that he had ordered Clark off the boat yesterday, and when he saw him back again he threw him out of the cock-pit. One of the visitors, who described himself as a fisherman, gave a vivid, detailed account of the assault. “You’re not a fisherman,” said Reid. “You’d lose yourself if you went out fishing.” He said that he ordered the visitors off because he did not like the women who sometimes came on board. Reid was fined £5, in default 14 days’ imprisonment.
