Jacd. 9.5 a.m. SYDNEY, Sunday. of surfers, whom A the exceptionally hot day had drawn to Clovelly Beach, witnessed a heroic struggle by 30 members of the local surf club to save the lives of three youths who were washed out. Two were saved, but one, Thomas Woollridge, was drowned. The spot is very rocky and the rescuers were badly knocked about and bruised in their efforts. Several were taken to hospital.— A. and N.Z.
