DETERIORATED LANDS

A REQUEST DECLINED (SUE’S Special Reporter.) WELLINGTON, To-day. Because many settlers are suffering hardship through the delay iu the board under the Deteriorated Lands Act reaching them, the Hon. A. D. McLeod, Minister of Lands, was asked to establish a second board. He declined, and said the legislation passed this session enabled Crown properties to be revalued under certain conditions. Sufficient work had been done by the committees of inquiry to determine as to the best method upon which to proceed in dealing with deteriorated land. The work of the committees would have been finished now but for the settlers failing to apply within the specified time. No more applications were being taken under this Act.
