SWIMMING JOTTINGS

MOUNT EDEN CLUB’S GALA

Having been tried out in one carnival, the swimmers of Auckland will muster in solid force for the first carnival to be held by the Mount Eden Amateur Swimming Club at the Mount Eden Baths on Monday. December 12. This club holds a strong position in the city, and can always be relied upon to provide a good evening’s sport. The programme drawn up covers a wide field, and sprint and distance events are there in plenty. The races will be the 50yds interclub handicap, 220yds open, 100yds ladies’, 100yds breaststroke, 50yds novice, 50yds junior boys, and 50yds junior girls. The 220yds race should provide plenty of interest. In this event G. Bridson, last year’s intermediate champion and record holder, wil lappear for the first time this season, and the result will be an interesting one. Miss Boris Magee, the intermediate girls’ champion, who has been sojourning in Australia, will also make her first appearance. Nominations for this carnival will close on Thursday, December S, and it is expected that the entries will be large.
