S.P.C.A.’S WORK
ANNUAL MEETING About 20 members of the Auckland Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals appeared at the first annual general meeting of the society held Inst evening. The pi'esident, Mr. C. H. Furness, occupied the chair. Election of officers for the ensuing year, minor amendments to the wording of some rules, and thanks to retiring officers was the business of the evening. The report and balance sheet, which were adopted, have already been published in THE SUN. Appreciation of the services of the secretary, Mr. J. J. Mead, the inspector, Mr. H. Ferguson, and the honorary officers and helpers who had assisted the society in its past year of useful work, was expressed by Mr. Furness. The honorary officers for the ensuing year are:— President, Mr. C. H. Furness; vicepresidents, same as last year; committee, Messrs. L. E. Rhodes (chairman), Jas. Armstead, J. A. Ward, J. B. Paterson, C. Lindesay, A. H. McLean, A. E. Kernot, Mrs. C. H. Grant Cowen, Mrs. A. E. Kernot, Misses Trevithick, E. Moon, Milburn, E. K. Morton; hon. treasurer, Mr. Richard Arthur; hon. solicitors, Mr. ’ J. Armstead, Messrs. Matthews and j Clarke.
