A RE the young Maoris of to-day taking sufficient interest in :he history of their people? The Te Akarana Maori Association has been considering this question. In order to stimulate nterest in the deeds of their ancestors, it was decided at a meetng last evening that prizes should be awarded for essays at the 3ueen Victoria School for Girls ind the St. Stephen’s School for Maori Boys. The stipulation is that the incidents related must have been obtained in, the Maori home. They cannot be taken from Pakeha history books.
