FEWER MARRIAGES
Vital statistics show a general slowing up all round. For the eleven months of this year neither births nor deaths have mounted to the corresponding figures for last year, but the chief deficiency is in marriages, which are 99 short of the corresponding total for 1926.
The figures for November, with those for the same month in 1926 in parentheses, are:—Births, 331 (300); deaths. 127 (13S); marriage licences issued, 191 (183); marriages by registrar, 41.(45),
