THROWN IN THE AIR BY FORCE OF IMPACT

MOTORMAN INJURED COLLISION AT AVONDALE A tramway motorman, Mr. E. Coyle, had a narrow escape from death at Avondale yesterday morning. THE motor-cycle which Mr. Coyle 1 was riding and a Ford van, owned by Mr. Naylor, butcher, of New Lynn, came into collision outside the Avondale Post Office. Mr. Coyle was thrown off the machine into the air and landed on his back on the concrete road. .He was stunned by the fall, and it was found later that his left arm had been broken at the wrist. Both the motor-cycle and the Ford van were damaged in the collision. The bonnet of the car was knocked in, and the front wheel of the motorcycle was bent in to the hub.
