COSTLY WORDS

DAMAGES FOR LIBEL ENGINEER AWARDED' £3OO When the case of Samuel Trevor Dibblg, engineer, and Wesley Richards, quarry foreman, was called before Mr. justice Reed this morning for argument, Mr. J. J. Sullivan intimated that the claim had been settled. This was the final stage in the libel action in which Dibble was awarded damages for defamatory statements. Mr. Sullivan intimated that the motion for a new trial and the non-suit had been withdrawn. Mr. J. F. W. Dickson moved for judgment for the plaintiff with costs, and judgment for the defendant on the issue in which he was successful, that in which he was found not guilty of malice in publishing the letter to' the Mount Wellington Road Board. His Honour entered judgment for the plaintiff for £3OO and costs.
