BUS OWNERS’ LOSSES
PETITION TO PARLIAMENT CREDITORS ALSO SUFFER (THE SUN’S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Saturday. Stating that as a result of their having to give up business after the passing of the Motor Omnibus Traffic Act, 1926, they have incurred heavy losses, the Mount Eden Motor Bus Company to-day petitioned Parliament, through Mr. V. H. Potter, Roskill, for relief.
Petitioners say that the Compensation Court fixed the amount of compensation payable to them, when their plant was taken over by the Auckland City Council, at £16,427. The present liabilities of the company amount to about £28,000, and they claim that as a result of the legislation their creditors have lost £12,000 and the shareholders £d,ooo.
