ENGINE BACKFIRE DESTROYS LAUNCH
It is now stated that a backfire of the engine set fire to the launch. The Toff, which was destroyed at Milford on Friday last. The owner, Mr. G. Stead, of Craig Road, Milford, was preparing the boat for inspection by a possible buyer from the city when the engine burst into flames. The Takapuna Fire Brigade was called out and. by pumping from the tank on the engine, filially put out the blaze. The interior of the launch was destroyed, but the engine is almost undamaged. The boat was insured for £IOO
