IRON WORKS CLOSING

BLOW TO NEWCASTLE By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright. Reed. noon. SYDNEY, To-day. Owing to oversea competition, and the high cost of production, Lysaght’s galvanised iron works at Newcastle are closing next month. This is one of Newcastle’s principal secondary industries, and, following the drastic curtailment of the operations of the steel works, the closing will add considerably to the industrial depression in the northern district.—A. and N.Z.
