NOT MILITARISTIC
BOY SCOUT MOVEMENT CONFERENCE AT CHRISTCHURCH Press Association . CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand section of the Boy Scouts Association which opened yesterday, delegates were welcomed by the Mayor, the Rev: J. K. Archer, who said that he had once been suspicious of the movement. Now he believed that it gave an opportunity for doing wood work.
Brigadier-General Andrew assured Mr. Archer that militarism had no part in the movement. Some time ago it had even been decided to eliminate marksmanship from the scouts’ syllabus.
