“MISERABLE PHYSIQUE”

DEAN INGE ON BRITISH INFERIOR TO EUROPEANS By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. LONDON, Monday. The Dean of St. Paul’s, Dr. W. R. Inge, in a lecture to the members of the Science Guild of Birth Control, said if it was plain that there was no room for large families, the people must act in accordance with their duty to their children and to the country. But they must recognise the risk that inferior immigrants would fill up the place of the over-prudent Englishmen.

“That has happened in the United States,” said the Dean. “We cannot view without apprehension the unrestricted influx of low-grade Irish people into Liverpool, Glasgow and the West of Scotland

“The miserable physique of the British is unparalleled in Europe. The French and the Germans are superior to the British as a whole, although the upper-class Englishman is still a fine animal. The cultivation of bodily perfection should be more widely encouraged.—-" Sun.”
