ROSE’S CREDITORS ARE SYMPATHETIC
BANKRUPT ATHLETE (Special to THE SLS.) MASTERTOX, Tuesda> The creditors of Randolph A. Rote the well-known athlete, after a brief examination to-day, decided, with o r.* exception, to recommend his discharge from bankruptcy, as soon as he sees fit to apply for it. Rose said that he had no capital when he commenced farming three years ago. When he left New Zealand to compete in athletic events in England and on the Continent he owed £ 400, bein'--£IOO on overdraft, £IOO to Mr. A. M. Sansom and £2OO to Mr. E. J. Ro:-('. Some of his wheat had been given in exchange for work fone, and a portioi of the money derived from the sale or wheat was used to pay various small accounts, and for the running expense-
of a car which had been loaned to him by his father* When he returned from overseas he still owed the £4OO, wit': the addition of certain money advanced him by his father and a few small accounts.
In reply to counsel. Rose >aid that probably his continued absence on athletic engagements liacl interfered with his farm work. His travelling expenses while touring New Zealand athletic meetings had been paid b* various clubs, out of pocket expenses on the trips being paid by himseL
Rose went on to say that a su:n of £l5O was paid into his account from a special fund raised before his departure for England to enable him to square up certain accounts. He felt sure that with a good cropping season he could have pulled himself out of his financial trouble.
