WAITOA DRAINAGE

BOARD CHAIRMAN ELECTED At the last meeting of the Waitoa Drainage Board Mr. Watson was elected chairman. On the motion of Mr. J. D. Mackay a statement of the board’s financial position is to be prepared. Works in progress and those proposed are also to be shown. A protest was received from 13 ratepayers out of 24 against the proposed Waitoa drainage loan. The protest included objection to the regrading of the Farmers’ Road drain. The question was deferred until next meeting. Meantime Messrs. Wilton and Watson will confer with the protesting ratepayers. Regarding the collection of rates the clerk reported that for the year ending March 31, 1928, the rates • levied totalled £3.558 and the amount collected £328.
