NGAPUHI BERTHS

NONE THE WORSE FOR GROUNDING MISHAP IN MANUKAU The Ngapuhi, which went aground in Manukau Harbour yesterday morning, was successfully floated off at high water later in the day and reached the Onehunga Wharf at 4 p.m. none the worse for her mishap. It was not thought necessary to tranship the racehorses to the Victory, and they were consequently landed on the wharf from the Ngapuhi. From further inquiries it appears that when in a narrow part of the channel the steering gear jammed, causing the vessel to yaw and run her nose into the mudbank. The vessel loaded this morning and was to be dispatched at 4 o’clock this afternoon for New Plymouth again, exactly one day behind schedule.
