NAPIER, To-day. r pHE first Napier wool sale of the 1927-28 season was held to-day before an attendance of 75 buyers representative of all buying countries. Competition was vigorous and well maintained, the principal operators coming from America, France, and Britain. Wellington prices were about maintained, those for coarse lots being slightly easier, and prices for finer qualities were slightly firmer, Bradford spinners entered keenly into competition with France and America, assisting to maintain the values established at Wellington. The local mills were cut clean out and found themselves unable to make a bid.
