People’s Day at Waikato Show

SUCCESSFUL CONCLUSION RECORD LAMB EXHIBITS (Special to THE SUN.) HAMILTON, Thursday. With an attendance of over 5,000 on the second day, the best recorded for several years, the Waikato Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s Annual Show was brought to a successful conclusion yesterday afternoon. The grand parade in the afternoon proved a most spectacular event, and also, a fine indication of the extensive range of show exhibits. The Dominion Jumping Competition with prize-money totalling £IOO, attracted 18 entries, and excellent jumping resulted. The coveted award went to Mrs. C. Merrin’s Two Step. There were also large entries in the juvenile classes, and good competition resulted. Considerable interest whs evinced in the two trotting events held during the afternoon, and which served to open the new track built by the Waikato Trotting Club. The first event, which attracted five entries, was won by Mr. A. J. Charles’s Sean Triubhas, and in the second, in which there was a field of nine, Mr. W. F. Sanders’s Dealer was successful. A feature of the second day was the exceptionally heavy yarding of fat lambs, one of the largest ever seen in the district. The standard of the section was particularly high, the requirements of the Home markets being well catered for in the type sent forward.
