MISUSE OF POWER

AMERICAN MINERS’ CHARGE ALLEGATION AGAINST STATE By Cable. —Press Association. — Copyright PITTSBURGH, Tuesday. The American Federation of Labour to-day voted in favour of laying the cause of the 130,000 striking coalminers in Pennsylvania and Ohio before the President, Mr. Coolidge. They demanded an immediate investigation by the State Governor, Mr. Fisher, of their charges of the misuse of power by the agencies of the State Government against 85,000 mine workers.

They allege thdt these men and their 125,000 dependants are on the verge of destitution. The Labour Committee of the federation says the process of a legal injunction had been used, not to sustain the law or to provide equity, but to deny to the workers the right to secure justice under the law.—A. and N.Z.
