GAME WITH CREDITORS

“HEADS I WIN—TAILS YOU LOSE” JUDGE’S CAUSTIC COMMENT fSpecial to THE SUN.) CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. “You entered into business and you played a game of heads I Win, and tails you lose with your creditors,” In these words M,r. Justice Adams summed up the bankruptcy of Frederick William Tucker, when Tucker applied in the Supreme Court to-day for his discharge. Tucker’s assets were £SO and his liabilities £770, said his Honour. There was no dividend for the creditors. He entered into business with his son and lost several hundred pounds. He then was practically insolvent. Tucker said it was high interest charged by moneylenders that caused his trouble. “Don’t you know,” asked his Honour, “that you had no right to begin business and place the whole risk on your creditors? This is what happened.” Mr. Watters, official assignee, said he recommended discharge with suspension for three months. His Honour: Yes, but the matter is serious. I think, Tucker, that you are fortunate, but I shall adopt the official assignee’s recommendation, and grant the discharge on the condition stated.
