NEW HARLEY-DAVIDSON
IMPROVED 1928 MODEL The 1928 model Harley-Davidson motor-cycle has now reached Auckland and cycle enthusiasts will be interested in tlie improvement introduced. Generally speaking, the appearance of the new 7-9 h.p. machines is if anything more sturdy and graceful than previous models. A new feature is the fore-wheel brakes, while the carburettor has been improved and an air-cleaner fitted. A gear-lock, similar to that fitted on models up to about 1925, has been fitted, making it necessary to use the clutch when changing gears. Other new features include a double partition in the tank between the oil and t>enzine, so that the two are still kept separate in the case of a leak, and the introduction of an oil pump control connected with the throttle on the handgrips. This means that at greater speeds the oil pressure is automatically increased. The 22 h.p. models, also, are greatly improved, and these machines should become very popular. Among the new features may be mentioned,' longer handle-bars, fitting of “Dow” metaj pistons, the rear guard being madf wider and hinged, and generally improved in appearance. % Both models have the rims’ painted black instead of green.
